Trust Women Week
January 13th, 2012
Categories: economic justice, health care reform, Hyde Amendment, TakeAction
Attention activists: Starting Friday, January 20, we're going on a week-long National March for Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice along with the Silver Ribbon Campaign, MoveOn, and nearly 70 other reproductive justice, reproductive rights, and reproductive health groups.
And we want you to join us!
Why?
- Because on the 39th anniversary of the legalization of abortion, public policies still put abortion out of reach for too many poor and low-income women.
- Because we view the right to abortion as a fundamental human right, essential for women’s equality, health, and dignity.
- Because we believe that abortion funding bans are an issue of racial and economic discrimination, as well as a violation of the human rights of women.
- Because we are ready to fight for every woman to have the ability to make the decision that makes sense for her and her family, no matter what the size of her paycheck.
- Because we trust women.
Where?
At your desktop! This is a virtual march to demand that elected officials trust ALL women to make our own decisions about our bodies and our lives.
How will the march work?
Check your email Friday morning: we will send you a link to join the virtual march. (Not sure if you're on our email list? Sign up here!)
When you click on the link, you'll join the march and send a message to elected officials. You will also be able to chart your progress and the progress of other reproductive justice activists on the map.
We will send out action items, suggested messages, and other ways to amplify your voices during the march. Our movement needs more people like you: people who are willing to speak up, work for justice, and declare to the world that abortion access matters.
Help us send a strong message, a message of solidarity: commit to Trust Women and Stand Up for Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice!
Watch this space for more updates and ways to take action during Trust Women Week!
