If you are going to New Orleans' Women's Health Care Center for an abortion, the New Orleans Abortion Fund may be able to help you pay for it.
To get help from the fund, follow these steps:
- Make a counseling appointment at the Women's Health Care Center: (504) 899-6010.
- Call the New Orleans Abortion Fund at (504) 363-1112 and leave a message with your name, phone number and whether the NOAF phone counselor can leave a message. Someone will call you back within 24 hours.
In 2012, a group of local organizers and activists who believe that all women should have access to abortion care founded the New Orleans Abortion Fund. Their mission is to help low-income women seeking abortions in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region.
Since forming in the fall of 2012, volunteers with the New Orleans Abortion Fund have held garage sales, hosted house parties, and participated in the National Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon to raise money for abortion funding in the Gulf Coast region. Moreover, they work to raise awareness about how abortion funding bans hurt their community, forming alliances with other local reproductive rights and health groups.
For abortion funds, raising money really is half the battle, because they can't help women unless they have something to give. The New Orleans Abortion Fund is a federal charity, and all of its funding comes from individual, tax-deductible donations. Please consider making a contribution to help improve abortion access in the Gulf Coast region. Because the fund is a 100% volunteer-driven organization, your donation goes directly to provide financial assistance for abortion services for Gulf Coast women and girls.
